Laura Philipp secured her first IRONMAN Women’s World Championship title with a stellar debut in Nice. The 37-year-old German triathlete conquered the demanding 3.86-kilometre swim, 180.2-kilometre bike ride, and 42.2-kilometre marathon in an outstanding total time of 8:45:15. Her exceptional effort included one of the fastest marathon times of the competition, adding another remarkable achievement to her already impressive season and proving her extraordinary endurance, strength, and focus.
Philipp’s Comeback and a Joyous Finish
Starting strong, Philipp displayed her determination with an outstanding comeback during the cycling leg, moving up from 13th place. The challenging course featured 2,400 metres of elevation, but she steadily advanced, taking the lead halfway through the race. A brief duel with Britain’s Kat Matthews ensued, but Philipp pulled away during the run. She increased her pace around the 10-kilometre mark, decisively distancing herself from the competition. Philipp crossed the finish line with a smile, celebrating the biggest triumph of her career.
